Center Stage Jackson – Jackson’s community theatre group - is holding OPEN AUDITIONS for its Youth Theatre production production, “The Story of Hansel & Gretel.”
If you were to write a story, where would you begin? Come in to the Jackson District Library’s Carnegie Branch, 244 W. Michigan Ave., Jackson, to hear just how to start! Linda C. Cossel will present Preparing to Write: 5 things to do before you begin your story in the McIntyre Room at 5:00 pm on Thursday, September 17.
Ms. Cossel will share with you the five things that will help you keep your characters, your facts, and your descriptions straight as you write your story or novel.

First in the season's five-concert series. For an intriguing season opener Béla Bartók’s imaginative and grand masterpiece features the virtuoso qualities of each section of the orchestra. Next, Solomia Soroka will astound you with her performance of the Sibelius "Violin Concerto." The evening concludes with Jose Pablo Moncayo’s lively and spirited "Huapango." Freedom, Slavery and the Roots of American Music
Ray Kamalay traces the development of early American music from its links to slavery up to the early jazz age. Discussion will include freedom, ancient and modern slavery, the Haitian Revolution, the origin of blackface, spirituals, blues, minstrel shows, ragtime and jazz. Ray is a long-time professional musician and contributes performances of the various genres.
