Third in the season's five-concert series. Enjoy great music representing a wide range of tastes and origins. When one musician inspires another, the result is not plagiarism but open tribute. Ravel, Vaughan Williams and Tchaikovsky honor Couperin, Tallis and Mozart, respectively. Composers throughout history not only learned from each other but openly paid tribute to the artistry and influence of earlier genius.Concert is held at Jackson Community College's Potter Center. Jazz and Blues Night featuring Ramona Collins Quintet, 7-11 PM. $35/person in advance, $40 at the door. Ji Hyun Kim, violinist, will be teaching a masterclass at the JSO Orchestra Hall, downtown Jackson, 215 W. Michigan Ave., Jackson, on March 6. Featuring members of the Jackson Youth Symphony, this class is free and open to the public.

Jackson Youth Symphony concert will be held at Western High School's Performing Arts Center, 1400 S. Dearing Rd., Parma at 3 PM on March 7. Music of Dukas, Fanfare from La Peri, Hovhaness' And God Created Great Whales, and Siblius' Finlandia will be performed. Joining the JYSO will be violinist Ji Hyun Kim performing Khachaturian's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra. No cost, free will offering. These fine, young musicians put on a wonderful performance.
