Homage to Matisse is part of the 2009 - 2010 City of Jackson's public art exhibition sponsored by the City of Jackson, Arts and Cultural Alliance of Jackson County and the Ella Sharp Museum of Art and History.
Mike would love to own a piece of artwork by Henri Matisse, particulary one of his cut outs. Knowing that was not a possibility he decided to produce his own. During the fabrication process it began to evolve, he modified it, restructured and stylizied it to suit him. Which makes Mike wonder if this could be considered a collaboration between Henri and himself.
