Art News 4/15/09

Tuesday a young gal come into my office to find out about the Alliance.  After chatting for a bit about us and the work that she does I finally asked, "As a young woman just out of college why did you pick Jackson to move to?"  Her response, "Because there is so much to do here!" 

 

Really?  So much to do here?  Jackson? 

 

Actually I would have to agree.  We have so many hidden gems and variety within our county it is unbelievable.  Which makes me wonder if we take for granted what is in our own backyard.  When was the last time you went to the Michigan Center for Photographic Arts in Grass Lake or went to see a performance by Center Stage or even popped in to hear one of our many local bands perform? 

 

If you only look at the few items posted in the Plan Your Calendar section in this newsletter there are four completely different events to attend, not to mention the other happenings listed on the www.artsinjackson calendar.  This list of activities is by no means exhaustive.  But what if each one of us took the time to create a profile and post our happenings on that calendar?  I think all of us would realize there is so much to do here!
