Art News 4/29/09
This week marks one year for me as the Director of the Arts and Cultural Alliance - it doesn't seem possible. I truly believe we have made great strides in promoting and supporting the arts in Jackson but I know there are so many other opportunities that still lie ahead, and I'm looking forward to!
I also feel as if I've been on the edge of my seat all week in anticipation of the arrival of Mark Lakeman from the City Repair Project. He will be in Jackson Thursday to give a presentation about the work they are doing and on Friday will be working with the residents of Partnership Park to see how his concepts could be implemented here. If you are interested at all in community revitalization this is a presentation you will not want to miss - I am looking forward to seeing Mark again and hearing about their new projects!
This is such an exciting week for the arts - new pieces of public art are starting to be installed (see next article for more information), JSO concert, CD Release concert, Storyfest, Andrews Gallery re-opening, Student Art Show at the Crossing, new classes at the School of the Arts begin and those are just the events I can think of off the top of my head! Get out there and put a little ART in your life!
I hope to see you out and about at one of the many events!
