Programs
The Art à Loan program is designed to encourage young artists and to share their talents with the larger community. Teachers from over thirty schools, public and private, respond to an invitation to submit artwork from their students from kindergarten through twelfth grade.
The exhibit consists of approximately 60 pieces selected from hundreds by a committee of jurors. The pieces are professionally framed by local businesses and Jackson Civic Art Association members. Once framed the pieces are placed in public locations around Jackson County for one year. At the end of the year the art is returned to the student artists.
Art à Loan began in 2007 through the generous support of the Chester H. and Marion Baylis Gardner Fund, a fund of the Jackson County Community Foundation, the Jackson Literary and Arts Association and the Rotary Foundation. Area businesses and private individuals have donated monies, through the rental fees, to continue this project for student artists next year.
The program is possible through a partnership between the Jackson Civic Art Association, Ella Sharp Museum of Art and History and the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Jackson County.

The Public Art Committee reviews potential gifts of art to the City’s collection according the Guidelines for the Public Art Ordinance and recommends appropriate locations for the installation of permanent public art.
