Local Jackson Michigan Photographer Shawn Wernette has been taking photographs since he was 16 years old. Trained by his father Kelly and Mr Gerry Whiting in the mid nineties Shawn began taking 35mm black and white paper stock photos and by the year 2001 finally was forced to switch over to digital though he still prefers the old fashioned cameras to the point and shoot modern kind.
" Old Cameras take more unique photographs and the grainy look of an old black and white photo is gorgeous to behold. The only advantage to digital is the fact that it is easier to use and is much better on the environment since there are no developing chemicals or printing them on glossy paper is optional. It is wonderful having your computer harddrive to work with what photos you would like to print and which ones get thrown out. I also prefer super 8 camera film for my independent cinema work. Digital film has no warmth or softness to the eye in my humble opinion. " - Shawn Wernette 2009
Wernette's debut gallery colection appears exclusively here on Jackson Arts and Cultural Alliance website. The first gallery includes the random shots that Shawn is well known for by fans of his work. He focuses on his hometown of Jackson Michigan and his favorite places in town in this full color digital series.
